INTELLIGENCE MEETS WISDOM

Once upon an element, a man named Intelligence questioned his own relevance
While his new old friend Wisdom offered his benevolence
You could tell, It was evident, the 2 were a little hesitant
Because their respect and reverence for each other was obviously heaven sent
That's when Intelligence asked, well why do we Hate
Wisdom's rebuttal
well why do we Love
Intelligence wondered what will become of his fate
While Wisdom just embraced each day just because
Now Intelligence can prove how much he knows
But Wisdom shows how much he grows
Though, Intelligence spends time searching for God
Wisdom sees that time, is merely a fraud
Odd
They both chose while out on job, to put their pros, cons and pride aside
Why?
Because The power of rivals subsides if the powerful rivals died
Wisdoms Crew was like ooh… Right Right!
While Intelligences entourage just sighed oh My My !
So Is yall Bout it bout it or is u a ride or die
Because Wisdom knew only the true tried to be wise
Intelligence replied, Nigga you ain’t never lied!
But it was something about these guys, they will not ever sever ties
Alone they could marvel but together they memorize
Materialized metamorphosis more opposites incorporated & attracted than they actually realized
Differences,
For instance,
Intelligence was man-made, And Wisdom is a Spirit
Intelligence is loud, But The Sound of wisdom, must be silent to hear it
Intelligence is witty and quick
While Wisdom is peaceful and still
Intelligence can be Artificial
When Wisdom is real.
Day and Night, Back and forth, they can debate turn for turn but if you understand one without the other Further quandaries will forever burn
But for now this intelligent case is closed And the wise meeting of the minds is adjourned
While the Blind has been leading the blind With frivolous concerns, We find that the true 3rd eye lies intertwined between 2 universes of no return
Interned, these two terms will eternally be on good terms, In terms of the interim
The definitions have definitely and definitively been turned…
Intelligence - the ability to learn
Wisdom - the ability to discern
Your turn!

ZRG FILM FESTIVAL CHICAGO- July 20-26th

Chicago is Gotham City.
Ask anybody in Chicago and we will say the same. Seeing Christian Bale parade through our downtown streets like Shia Labouf during the Transformers movie marathon. We all missed appointments, trains and deadlines thanks to the wonderful movies that have been filmed in our city but thanks to the wonderful people over at Ingage Media and Zeller Realty Group we will have a week long nostalgic remembrance of those seasons.

The ZRG Film Festival is a free celebration of films made in Chicago that is shown on an enormous HD screen on the Magnificent Mile @ 401 North Michigan Avenue.

Bring your kids out for a wonderful, action packed night under the stars.

105 BLACK-OWNED RESTAURANTS CHICAGO (List in the link below)

I've lived in the South Chicago area for the majority of my life and now that I've returned I'm proud to say that Chicago has 105 Black Owned Restaurants to chooses from. I dont have anything against the other eating establishments in the city but it's something special for us to be able to build and upkeep our own businesses so with that being said, it's my mission to go out and support as many of them as I possibly can.

Below is a link to the list that I found on beansouptimes.com, I hope that if you live in any of these listed areas in the link that you would choose today to go out and support local businesses.
Thank you.

VAULT by VANSxTAKASHI MURAKAMI

It was back in 2009 during the Art Basel Miami Beach when I first heard the name Takashi Murakami, but I find it very interesting that I’ve known his work ever since 2007. Kanye West’s third studio album under Roc-A-Fella Records, “Graduation”, featured his signature “Dropout Bear” character but with a twist of colorful perfection.

When I saw the transition from The College Dropout to Graduation I noticed the Kanye West brand was taking a turn into familiar territory, anime/ Japanese influences. (“Stronger” music video based on animated cult classic “Akira”, I saw it early) Even though it was easy to recognize that his influences were focusing/turning eastward in his music and fashion it was the colors that grabbed me. From the soft pink clouds of the sky to the bright, multicolored reflections in the bears eyes I was smitten by Murakami’s color palette.

Showered in a full gambit of vibrant color and imagery my eyes were opened to new possibilities all in one bright flash. Once upon a time I suffered from Chromophobia, the fear of color, due to my neighborhood’s homophobic curse but due to researching my new found love of Superflat I found that color evokes emotion and emotion activates the soul.

Knowing very little about the style’s origin I was taken by Murakami’s strange characters and vibrant colors and for years I incorporated what I saw. I know that this is a long , drawn out, gushy journey down memory lane but there is a reasons…it’s escaping me but Murakami and Vans decided to collaborate with one another to create The Vault Collection.

(I’ve been outside of the pop culture bubble for a while now but I think it’s safe to say that I’ve died and gone to Superflat Heaven)

The limited edition Vault Collection released from Vans in collaboration with contemporary artist Takashi Murakami was designed on the Classic Slip-On, skateboard decks and apparel in late June. Thanks to the lovely people over at Instagram I have been reunited with the source of my artistic evolution, the one and only Takashi Murakami (@takashipom)

ARLO by Daniel Johnson

Typically speaking, every other friday I do my best to release a promo poster for at least one of the members of an artist community known as the No-Name Initiative. Sadly enough this past friday I was a little late seeing that life got a bit too busy for my friday evening to handle, but that's no reason to keep that from you here on Vice Centric is it?

Nope.

Looking through the wonderful art that the No- Name Initiative contributors/ members have submitted over the years and to shed a bit of much needed light on the talent that the group has showed in our history together.

First up is from our good friend Johnson Daniel. I was drawn to this painting because of the brightness of the colors and the perspective in which it was painted. I envy all those who are naturally talented at painting but at the same time I do admire you and would have no problem collaborating with you in the future.

I now present to you...
